Sri Lanka - Culture & Attitude

Safe and Healthy Workplaces are very much determined by the **attitude** to health and safety by Senior Management ... it is this attitude, whether positive or negative, that drives the **safety culture** of the organisation

When Senior Management pay lip-service to:
👉 Inductions
👉 Training
👉 Maintenance, and
👉 Honest review of health and safety performance ...
... they sow the seeds of their own accidents and crises.

IOSH Fellowship Process Review

I am now a proud Fellow of IOSH. In this video I cover:

Chartered Fellowship is discussed as the pinnacle of Membership at IOSH, and can only be achieved after being a Chartered Member for 5 years, and being able to evidence you have gone over and above to the H&S cause.

I have been requested to provide my experience and feedback, so here is my:
- Why for Fellowship
- The benefits
- The portfolio – my favourite bit
- The interview, and
- The cost.

These views are my own ... as always.

The Risk Matrix: A Question to IOSH and 'Risk Assessment' platform and AP sellers

Are IOSH and Risk Assessment AP makers 'selling' the risk assessment process as a 'dark art' by promoting and requiring the use of risk matrices?

If the UK HSE doesn't promote the use of risk matrices ... why would sellers of products?

Is it just that the IOSH Managing Safely Risk Assessment Matrix is 'Fit for Purpose' because it gives new risk assessors parameters to work within?

'Risk' like beauty, is in the eyes of the beholder. Humans are not omniscient, we cannot see into the future.

As one of the leading body's on occupational health and safety, it would be hugely beneficial for IOSH to use their status to initiate some research, guidance and reasoning to this most fundamental activity in health & safety.

Humans are filled with personal biases, therefore unless there is deterministic input, it's all guess work really - Andy and Llewellyn
